The magnet is strong, but it should fold back on itself and be closer to the form factor of the laptop. The thickness is enough to protect from scratches but less from... I would not buy this item again: this laptop case is too big for a 14 inch laptop, in the same time there is no extra space or compartment for a charging cable. Great product. Really like it.
